Westport Anesthesia consists of anesthesiologists as well as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA). Our anesthesiologists are medical doctors with 3 to 5 years of residency and often fellowship training. Many of our anesthesiologists have special training in pain management, critical care and pediatric anesthesia. Each of our physicians is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or other appropriate baccalaureate degree, are registered nurses (RN), have at least one year’s experience in an acute care nursing setting and complete a two to three year nurse anesthesia program. At Westport Anesthesia Services, CRNAs work under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist.
